Florida is known throughout the country for its weather and culture. West Pensacola is one of Florida’s treasures. A livable community rather than a tourist destination, West Pensacola has sunshine, golf, beaches and culture, all without the traffic and congestion of Florida’s big cities. Year-round temperatures range from the low 40s to about 90 degrees, while average annual rainfall is about 64 inches. For almost two-thirds of the year, residents enjoy sunshine or only partial cloud cover.
With this mild climate, outdoor activities are both convenient and popular. Golf, swimming, camping, fishing, sailing, horseback riding and more can be enjoyed in West Pensacola or very close by. There are several golf courses within just a few miles of the center of the community including Lost Key Golf and Beach Club. Water activities are available at Pensacola Beach, Perdido Key or the Gulf Islands National Seashore. The National Seashore includes barrier islands from Florida to Mississippi. Over four million people visit the 137,000-acre site annually to explore the varied landscapes and take part in a variety of activities. On the Florida side, boating, camping and fishing are popular. One may also spend the day walking the trails, snorkeling along the shoreline or checking out the tour of Fort Barrancas.
